Addressing a press conference in Jammu R.S Chib announced that Directorate of Technical Education will hold ‘placement fair’ from January 14th to 22nd at Government Polytechnic College, Jammu and on January 15th and 18th at ITI Srinagar and K. G. Polytechnic Srinagar for on the-spot recruitment of 700 diploma/ITI/MES-SDI pass outs.
He said prestigious companies will hold interview during the placement fairs for adjustment of 700 technically trained youth in their establishments across the country. In a related move, he disclosed that the Government will sponsor 16000 young boys and girls for training in ITIs within and outside the State under the Skill Development Initiative.
“I also feel that vocational training, diploma courses, certificate and engineering courses have become important in the current global job market and training the young technically will help them access the private sector easily or formulate their own projects”, Chib said adding that state government with the help of Central assistance has launched a special program called the ‘skill development initiative” and under the scheme 16000 boys and girls from all the districts of J&K will be sent to various ITIs for training in demand driven trades in 2 years.
“The Central Government as a special gesture has agreed to train our young students in various ITIs of the country, and 8000 selected students will be imparted training this year and another batch of 8000 will be trained in 2011-12. Out of these 6000 young boys and girls will be sent to various ITIs outside the state and 2000 trained within the State for which the project outlay is Rs 23.08 crore”. The minister said.
“Placement of trained people is of prime concern for the Government and training of the youth is important and in this connection, the role of media in disseminating relevant information about the various programmes initiated by the Government becomes vital and I hope media will cooperate with us in this regard”, the Minister said.
Secretary Youth Services and Sports, B. A. Runyal, Director Technical Education, Ajit Sahu, Director Information Khawaja Farooq Renzushah were present in press conference.
