Takao Osawa and Yuko Takeuchi who appeared in the Japanese movie “Midnight Eagle” directed by Izuru Narushima were amongst the many actors and actresses that appeared on the opening night of the Tokyo International Film Festival. The event started out with a red carpet walk at the Roppongi Hills. It is said that about three-hundred films at least will be shown at the festival until October 28th.
The main program that’s going to be presented at the Tokyo International Film Festival will be its Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix award. This award is the main award of this annual film festival taking place in Tokyo during the fall.
There are going to be quite some interesting programs presented at the film festival. There is a “Winds of Asia” program which will showcase films produced in both Asia and the Middle East. This looks to be a joint project between the filmmakers of the various Asian and Middle Eastern Countries.
Another program that will be in place at the Tokyo International Film Festival is called “Tokyo in Focus.” This program will showcase films taking place in Tokyo after World War II.
The Tokyo International Film Festival already has an international jury that will select the winners of the awards. Winners will be announced on the last day of the festival. American film producer Alan Ladd Jr will be heading this year’s jury.
