John Wiley Price got into an argument with fellow Dallas County Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield over what Price believed was a racial epithet. Wait until you hear this one.
In a meeting about Dallas County traffic tickets, Kenneth Mayfield likened the forgetful and disorganized central collections office to a "black hole." At this point, John Wiley Price, who is black, confronted Mayfield about what he believed was a racial epithet. He said "Excuse me!… A white hole!" Furthermore, residing Judge Thomas Jones agreed with John Wiley Price and made Kenneth Mayfield apologize for the comment.
As you probably already know, a black hole is a scientific term regarding a massive collapsed star from which no matter or light can escape. Mayfield’s analogy to the collections office, where papers are often lost, is viable.
