Channapattana, Beautiful wooden toys are made here. The range is delightful and each toy has some quaint touch that marks it as typically Indian. There are head-shaking Indian dancers, toy acrobats, blocks, take-apart toy, miniature pots and pans from the typical village kitchen, doll house furniture and so on. An ancient temple, the Mallur Aprameya swami temple is situated here. Channapattana was the capital of Jagadevaraya, a feudal prince of the Vijayanagar monarchs, who built a fort there in 1580. this fort was later destroyed by Tipu sultan.
A scenic Hill resort on a range of is three. There are Hills with two silvery rivers, the Jayamangal and the Shimsa originating here and snaking down its sides. Still untouched by civilization, the densely-wooden hillsides are said to be inhabited by tigers. The lower hill has a lovely temple dedicated to Sri Bhoganarasimha.

This town has an enchanting temple dedicated to Ganesh (elephant god), which, strangely enough, has not no permanent deity. The enormous image of Ganesh, prepared for the Ganesh Chathurthi is made with handfuls of clay for months. Later the deity is taken in procession and immersed in the temple tank and the process of building is started afresh.
