Ghana’s Sports Minister Exonerated, But Resigns

After investigations in alegations of corruption levelled against the then Minister of Sport Alhaji Mubarak, he has been exonerated. The reports have been released today June 25.
The reports of the investigation says he did nothing wrong as the allegations against him could not be substanciated. The reports said that the accountant who made the allegations did it to spite the Minister for transfering him. However, the minister was blamed for some amount of indescretion.
But the Minister has decided to resigned in a letter to the President. His resignation has been accepted.
Speaking on an Accra FM radio, the Former minister said he was relieved after being misjudged by the press for all this while. He claimed he inccurred the wrath of the staff at the ministry because hee would not be easily compromised. He said many illegal offers were made to him but he refused. He is calling for a shake-up in the Civil Service because to him, the officials in the ministries could not be rusted.
