Jammu, February 05 (Scoop News) –Eulogising the commendable role of Sikh Community in the freedom struggle of the country as also in maintaining the communal harmony and brotherhood in the state, in testing times, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affaris, Abdul Rahim Rather today said the Government would do everything possible to ensure equal opportunities of development and prosperity for its socio-economic empowerment.

The Minister said Sher-i-Kashmir was always concerned about the plight of poor and wanted to involve them actively in the march towards prosperity and development.
The president of the Kashmir Sikh Sangat in his welcome address, sought seeking minority status and reservation for the Sikh Community in the State legislature. He said Sikh minority which has braved all odds and kept their roots intact in the valley despite two decade long militancy and have lived in complete harmony and brotherhood with the majority community.
