Decades of war have devastated the economy and infrastructure. However Afghanistan is still one of the world’s poorest countries. Although Afghanistan received billions of dollars from all over the world as aid, the Afghan govt relies on aid for about 90 percent of its total expenditure. The gross domestic product per capita income stood at just $1,000 in 2007.
