“Quality Indian quickies in two years”

Former swing-king Wasim Akram said, "India, like Pakistan, have a good crop of young fast bowlers. If their talent is properly utilized, national cricket will get benefitted and India will have a quality pool to choose from in the next two years."

Akram said, "I have always been open to the idea of propagating the art. My art is not specified to one region, it should go beyond boundaries. I try and help every cricketer who wants to learn."

He said, "No doubt there is no dearth of talent in India, but the question remains as to how that talent is honed and brought forward. The key to success though will always be hard work and hard work alone."

"Modern bowlers try to find shortcuts to success. They prefer to work inside AC gyms rather than slogging it out on the field or in the nets. Imran always told us to run on the field and bowl as much as we can. I remember bowling 3-4 hours in the nets even on hot and humid days."

The tall left-arm pacer said, "One should not burden youngsters with a lot of unnecessary advice. Raw talent mixed with some useful tips can be the perfect blend for a rookie pacer to move forward in his career."

"There was a time when England and Australia were known as fast bowling hubs and then the limelight turned towards West Indies. Now I am happy to see speedsters from the sub-continent (Vaas, Zaheer, Ishant, Mashrafe) take centrestage. The legacy must continue" he said.
