Bangladesh lost the Asia cup final on 22nd March 2010, in Dhaka late Thursday. Pakistan the winner of the Asia cup 2012 did it again second time. It was a two run win for Pakistan but had all the thrills of the game. Bangladesh team chased the total of 236 for 9 by Pakistan in 50 overs well but could not keep the momentum during the last few overs and lost the game. It was a average total by Pakistan but they made it a match winning total by last overs of the match.
Bangladesh team could score 234 for 8 in 50 overs. Shakib Al Hasan (68, b Aizaz Cheema ) and Tamim Iqbal (60, c Younus Khan b Umar Gul ) were the only players from Bangladesh to cross the half-century. Rest of the Bangladesh team could not perform well in the 2012 Asia cup final.
Bangladesh team defeated India and Sri-Lanka after losing their first Asia Cup 2012 match with Pakistan. But it was really a good game from Bangladesh team so far and they been challenging for all the teams in Asia Cup this year.
Nobody was very much positive about Bangladesh reaching to the final. Even it was being guessed by the cricket world and game followers that either India with Pakistan will be fighting the Asia cup final this time, or India and Sri Lanka. There were huge talk about final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan as well. Very few people thought about final between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Now when Pakistan is the winner of Asia Cup 2012, Bangladesh should be worried about anything. It’s a win-win game for both the team. Bangladesh has now shown it to the entire world that they are training hard to fight in the coming world cup and other champion games. They defeated both the world champions (India and Sri Lanka) and reached to the final of Asia cup this time. The team has really grown up well and would be able to fight the other world champions in coming time.
"Congratulations to our team for winning the title," said chief selector Iqbal Qasim, who also had warm words for Bangladesh. They beat India and Sri Lanka in the tournament and proved a tough opponent," he said.
