Best Price stores organize clothes contribution drive

Jammu, September 07 (Scoop News) – Best Price Modern Wholesale stores, owned and operated by Bharti Walmart, the joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and Walmart Stores Inc for wholesale, business to business and cash and carry operations in India, are organizing clothes collection-for-donation drive for underprivileged people across 8 states in India. The initiative is being organized in association with Goonj’s ‘Vastra Samman’ project with M/s Gati KWE as logistics partner. This initiative will help poor and needy people gain economic stability, improve their standard of living and foster inclusive growth.

The initiative will be organised from 1– 30 September 2012 across Bharti Walmart’s 17 Best Price Modern Wholesale stores across Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, J&K, Maharashtra, MP, Punjab, Rajasthan and UP. Best Price Modern Wholesale store employees will participate in the drive and will encourage members to contribute as well. This is part of Bharti Walmart’s “Store of the Community” program.

The collected clothes will be sent to Goonj who will use these to motivate under-privileged people to develop infrastructure in their communities like repairing of roads, digging of wells, cleaning the village, among other possible activities. Improvement of infrastructure will help the communities have a better life. As part of the program, people will be encouraged to do shramdaan (community labour) and get the collected clothes in return, as a reward.

This drive is in association with Goonj, a well-known national NGO, which provides clothes to millions of poor and needy people and Gati – a leader in express cargo delivery and a pioneer in distribution and supply chain management solutions in India. Gati will collect the donated clothes from the Best Price Modern Wholesale stores and deliver them to Goonj collection centres, which will finally distribute the clothes among under-privileged and economically distressed communities.
