As the confidence vote takes place on Tuesday, the Centre has taken a decision to inform the Supreme Court that it is going ahead with Sethu Samudram Project cutting across Ram Sethu. The Supreme Court is hearing the case on Tuesday.
These petitions had challenged the dredging across Ram Sethu, the bridge on which Lord Ram is believed to cross over to Sri Lanka with his simian army.
The petitioners wanted Ram Sethu be declared as a National Monument because of the religious belief involved and the Project to take a different route other than Ram Sethu.
During the last hearing SC had suggested the Centre to consider undertaking a study by ASI.
Sources told NDTV that the Centre is likely to inform the court that the ASI study is not necessary and want the court to vacate the stay on dredging across Ram Sethu. The SC had earlier stayed the dredging across Ram Sethu.
