Srinagar, October 17, (Scoop News)_On the invitation of APHC leader and head of Mutheda Majlis-e-Ulema, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, renowned Islamic scholar of South Asia, Moulana Kahleel-ur-Rehman Sajad Naumani, delivered a Friday sermon at the historic Jamia Masjid.
Terming the large scale destruction caused by the floods in Kashmir as a test from Allah, Naumani said that devastation has shocked the entire Islamic Ummah and the world.
He said it was the reason as to why special prayers were being held across the world for the speedy recovery of Kashmir from the destruction caused by the floods.
Naumani said that during his recent leg of tour to different countries, he found people sad for Kashmir due to huge magnitude of destruction caused by the flood, adding, “I found everybody ready to lend a helping hand to help Kashmiris in whatever capacity they could”.
The Islamic scholar said that Kashmiris should not lose hope in the face of this calamity,and added that he was glad to find the people and religious leadership of Kashmir quite optimistic and brave.
He praised the youth for the exemplary role they played in the relief and rescue work during the floods.
Naumani, impressed upon the people to continue with self help, religious unity, love for each other, inter-sectarian and inter-religious bonhomie, and the resolve to help their fellow brethren which Kashmiris exhibited during the recent floods.
He said that such qualities are the priceless asset of a place.
Terming historic Jamia Masjid as the great symbol of Islamic identity in south Asia, the Islamic scholar said that its pulpit has not only advocated for the welfare of the people of Kashmir, but also for the rights of the people of entire world who seek justice.
Paying rich tributes to the Mirwaiz family for their contributions in social, religious and political fields of Kashmir, Naumani said that the people of Kashmir have enormous expectations from the young Mirwaiz and his family.
Welcoming the Islamic scholar on behalf of entire Kashmir, Mirwaiz said that the sermon of Moulana sahib in the light of Quran and hadith should be followed in letter and spirit.
He said that even though the present difficult times were a test from Allah, the need of the hour was that we should introspect and resolve to bring about moral upliftment in ourselves and our society.
Mirwaiz said the despite minimal resources, he was confident that by sheer self help initiatives and determination Kashmiris would come out of these difficult times sooner than later.
On the occasion, Mirwaiz announced that on coming Friday (October 24), he would lead a special prayer session at the shrine of Sheikh Noor u din Noorani at Chara-e-Sharief where forgiveness would be sought from Allah.
