Jamyang Tsering Namgail said that while Kashmiri, which do not have its script and Nepali- which is a foreign language, have been included in 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution, no attention has been paid towards including “Bhoti” language in the 8th Schedule despite repeated representations, appeals, protests and agitations. Isn’t it discrimination, he questioned and said that ours is the second rich language after Sanskrit in the country but still has not been recognised due to anti-Ladakh approach of the governments at the centre and in the state.
Dorjey Gyaltson said that Ladakh region is too behind in developmental activities. There is dire need of basic facilities like electricity, drinking water, proper road and communication connectivity, health care facilities, educational institutions and professional and technical institutions. He demanded that central university and college of all streams in Ladakh should be established so that the youth of Ladakh has not to go to other places for higher academic, technical and professional studies. There are no job avenues for educated Ladakhi youth. This all reflects the mindset of the Kashnir-centric and anti-Ladakh government. He said that the people of Ladakh are brave, true nationalists and peace loving citizens. The government should not test their patience, it should immediately shed its discriminatory approach and meet the genuine long pending demands of the people of Ladakh. He also appealed the people of Ladakh not to get misled by the hollow slogans of development and remain united on the issue of discrimination with their region.
