Srinagar, May 01 (Scoop News) – District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Mehraj Ahmed Kakroo, convened a high level meeting to discuss and review the implementations of various Educational Schemes and the need of Providing Quality education in the Valley.
Mehraj Kakroo while stressing on the development of Human resources in
Member Secretary of district committee, Syed Ajaz Qalandar, briefed the meeting about various objectives of the schemes including SALMA, NLMA and Saakhashar Bharat Mission. Qalandar also highlighted various objectives of Saakhashar Bharat Scheme such as imparting of functional literacy in different age groups, equipping neo- literates with earning skills, establishment of learning society by providing opportunities to neo literates and enable them to continue their learning beyond basic literacy to acquire equivalence in formal educational system.
The District Development Commissioner also directed the officials to come up with an amicable structure which can be applied in no time and formulate Requisite committees at Zonal, Block and Grameen levels for implementing the scheme. As such 800 youth of Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) would conduct a survey for identifying different age groups of illiterate and dropouts to implement the scheme in a positive way, he added.
