An array of coins belonging to the Satavahana, Roman, Kakatiya, Vijayanagara and Mughal period ranging from 5th century B.C. to 18th century A.D were displayed as part of the three-day exhibition held on the eve of World Heritage Day at State Museum in Public Gardens,Hyderabad.
The special exhibition on the recent treasure troves also had bronze idols of the five hooded Nagini, Bhudevi, Sridevi, Parvathi, Saraswathi and Vishnu on display at the Museum.
The Museums Director, P. Chenna Reddy, who opened the exhibition, underscored the need for preserving rare collections and heritage sites.
The Department of Archaeology and Museums was making efforts to get the world heritage status to the historic Golconda Fort.
