There are some factors that affects the growth of the plant in the garden. These are the supply of water, the drainage system, the fertility of the soil, the plants exposure to sunlight, and the size of the garden.
Water is an important factor in the plant’s growth and development. Like other living things, plant’s can’t live without the supply of water. The site of the garden where the plants are located should maintain a good supply of water in whole year round.
The drainage system in the garden should also be maintained and cleaned. Unmaintained drainage could lead into unexpected flooding within the gardens vicinity which could damage the plants specially the young ones. It is also advantageous when the land in the garden is slightly sloping. It is because sloping lands could prevent common flooding as it drains the water naturally from high to lower areas.
Another thing is the fertility of the soil. It is very important that the soil in the garden is fertile. This condition of the soil provides good growth for the plant. Fertile soils contains more nutrients that are essential for the plants growth and development.
The acidity of the soil is also considered. Soils found to contained with acids are not good for the plant since acidity may lead to certain plant diseases. A good soil for growing plants is the clay loam soil. This kind of soil contains sand, clay and organic materials. The combination of these three makes good soil for the plants to grow.
It should also be consider that the site of the garden is exposed in the open sun as the heat of the sun is necessary for the plants to perform photosynthesis. The energy from the sun unites the carbon and water and forms into sugar which needed by the plant. This is the way of the plants to create their own food.
The garden should also be located in the sites that has natural wind breaks such as houses, trees or hills. This wind breaks will in some way prevents the strong penetration of winds to the plants, specially to the young’s, thus it provides good air circulation.
The size of the garden is also an important factor. In here, it should be considered that the number of the plant to be planted should coincide with the size of the garden, this is to prevent plant overpopulation which could affect the growth and development of the plant.
