KIP quoting district development commissioner MK Dwivedi ,ordered a high level inquiry in the kidnapping case and also announced an ex-gratia of 1 lakh.
Shouting slogans against the police the local residents lambasted the police for their laxity in the matter.
The angry residents alleged that despite knowing the identity of the kidnappers the police teams failed to rescue the minor child from the custody of the kidnappers till wee hours.
Local residents in the area also alleged that the police was aware of the identity of the kidnappers and under pressure from some political quarters they had released the accused youth initially detained in the case. The local residents also alleged that police have been informed about the activities of these youth in the area as they had made similar attempts to pick minor children but failed to do so.
On Saturday when police failed to contain the anger of the public the house of one of the accused in the same lane was torched by the people before storming it. The police reacted swiftly and called Fire brigade to douse the flames.
