Jammu, February 22 (Scoop News) – The “Inmates Pipe Band” formed by the Prisons Department, Jammu and Kashmir in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal was inaugurated by the Principal Secretary, Home Department, B R Sharma who was the chief guest in the function organized in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal.

The inaugural function was followed by a cultural evening in which the inmates as well as professional artists performed and enthralled the audience. The audience included senior government functionaries, former Prisons Department Chiefs, officers and men of the prisons department and their families, prominent citizens, inmates of Kot Bhalwal Jail and media-persons.
Superintendent Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Smt Rajni Sehgal welcomed the guests while DIG Prisions, M S Lone presented the vote of thanks.
The prominent among those present were Dr Ashok Ban, A C Chaturvedi, T R Kalra, formerly Director Generals of Police, Prisons Department, M A Anjum, Inspector General of Police, Prisons Department spoke on the occasion and highlighted various programmes perceived under rehabilitation schemes for inmates.
B R Sharma lauded the efforts made by the Prisons Department in launching various vocational programmes and training the Jail inmates to ensure their respectable settlement in the civil society after they go out of prison. He said that these vocational training would not only earn livelihood for them but them quite beneficial for the society. He expressed his happiness and congratulated the Jail authorities for organizing this musical bonanza for the inmates and members of the civil society. He was impressed with the performance of the artists and congratulated them especially the “Inmate Artists”.
He exhorted upon the prison authorities to make the prisons as the institutions of reformation in the real sense.
