Iraqi Shoe Thrower Honor a Giant Shoe
The Iraqi journalist Muntadhir al-Zaidi, who throws shoes at Formed US President George W. Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki during a press conference, has had a giant shoe sculpture erected in his honor. The monument was show in a ceremony at the Tikrit Orphange.
The giant footwear which is 11.5 feet high, 8.2 feet long and is 4.9 feet wide was constructed out of fiberglass and coated with copper. Laith al-Amiri thanks to help from the children of the Tikrit orphanage and sculpted the shoe in just 15 days.
Orphanage director Faten Abdulqader al-Naseri said, "Those orphans who helped the sculptor in building this monument were the victims of Bush’s war,” He also believes it will encourage future generations at the monument highlights Al-Zaidi’s heroism.
