Srinagar, August 09 (Scoop News) – Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today visited Charar-e-Sharief and paid obeisance at Dargah Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA). He prayed for peace and development of the State and well being of the people.
The Chief Minister inspected various work under execution in the Shrine complex and gave directions for early launch of projects aimed at upgrading the infrastructural facilities in the Shrine complex and rehabilitation of shopkeepers.
The Chief Minister has recently sanctioned Rs. one crore for rehabilitation of shopkeepers who are being shifted to new complex to create infrastructural facility in the shape of sanitation units, bathrooms and ablution facilities for devotees. The Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdullah has provided Rs. one crore from his MP’s Constituency Development Fund for building necessary infrastructure in the Shrine complex for these facilities.
The Chief Minister directed the executing agency for timeline completion of works and rehabilitation of the affected shopkeepers. The Chief Minister has already constituted a Committee to move oversee the rehabilitation process. He has also directed for involvement of affected shopkeepers in the rehabilitation process giving due weightage to their suggestions.
Omar Abdullah also inspected status of work at the Mosque complex being executed by JKPCC at a cost of about Rs. 26 crore. The Managing Director JKPCC M. M. Gupta explaining the progress of work informed the Chief Minister that more than Rs. 16.5 crore have been incurred on the project so for. The Chief Minister directed for completion of the works by January next year.
Omar also interacted with people heard their views regarding the development of Shrine complex.
Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather was accompanying the Chief Minister.
