While expressing deep sadness over this most unfortunate fire incident, the Governor hoped that well planned work will commence very early to restore this revered and historical Shrine to its pristine glory.
Interacting with Sajada Nashin, at the latter’s residence, the Governor expressed relief that the holy relics kept in this Shrine are safe and secure.
A. H. Samoon, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, M. Y. Qadri, Vice Chairman, Muslim Wakf Board, Khalid Hassan Geelani, Sajada Nashin of the Shrine, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, S. A. H. Bukhari, SSP, Srinagar, and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
President Democratic Party of Nationalist (DPN) and Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir also visited Dastgeer Sahib Shrine (RA) at Khanyar and took stock of the damage caused to the shrine of Hazrat Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) due to the fire incident.
While expressing the grief over the fire incident at the shrine and terming it unfortunate, DPN president appealed the people to maintain peace and amity.
Mr Mir hailed the efforts of Sajada Nisheen, Khalid Geelani, and others for displaying courage and protecting the sacred relics and Taburakat. He said that the shrine of Dastageer Sahib being 250 years old and people ofthe valley have great attachment with it.
He expressed solidarity with the people of the J&K on this tragic incident and hoped that work on new building of the shrine will be started by the Wakaf Board soon.
