Journalists hold rally against attacks on press

New Delhi, December 24 (Scoop News) –The Delhi Union of Journalists DUJ calls upon the Central and State Governments to take immediate action against all police persons who attacked journalists and peaceful demonstrators during the protest demonstrations against rape rallies in the capital in the past few days. It also calls for the setting up of functional fast track courts immediately.


The DUJ congratulates all it’s members and well-wishers who joined the peaceful rally at the Press Club of India to call for a halt on

Press bashing and action against those guilty of excesses, including police entry to the Press Club of India followed by a planned attack on selected Press persons yesterday.


The meeting at the Press Club of India was called by several Press organizations and chaired by the Press Club of India President T. R.Ramachandran. The leaders of the organizations who addressed the rally were the Press Club of India,the Delhi Union of Journalists, the Press Association of India, the PTI Confederation, Delhi Unit,the UNI union, Delhi among others. Prominent journalists present were Sujata Madhok, DUJ President, S.N.Sinha, Sandip Dixit, Vinay Kumar, Priti Mehra, Monika Chopra CJU, Dinesh Chandra, T.K. Rajlaxmi, Rajiv Ranjan, Nag,(member, Press Council of India), Rahul Jalali, former President, Press Club of India, Shesh Narayan Singh( Deshbandhu, writer Saagri Chaabra and workers of the PCI.


They also included national council members of the DUJ, besides several photographer and anchor persons including Chitrita Sanyal, Aditi Nigam, Dhirenda Jha, Neelam Jeena, and Aroop Sen.

The PCI also submitted a joint memo to the Home Minister.
