Kargilites celebrate Republic Day

Kargil, January 26 (Scoop News) –Bearing the -15 Degree Celsius at the Time of the Function, The Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Kacho Ahmed Ali Khan hoisted the national flag at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Biamathang, and took salute at an impressive March Past comprising of contingents of Jammu and Kashmir Police, NCC, Army and Civil Band Party and children of Government and private schools.
Despite immense cold and freezing temperature of Minimum -21 Degree Celsius, thousands of People from the adjoining villages of Kargil gathered at Sports Stadium Biamathang and celebrated the 64th Republic Day with patriotic fervor and gaiety.
Prominent among others present on the occasion, included Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Fida Hussain, Superintendent of Police Kargil Javed Iqbal Mattoo, senior civil and Army officers and Councilors of LAHDC, Kargil.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Executive Councilor appreciated the role played by the Indian Army for bearing this chilling temperature and guarding the Borders of the Country, especially in difficult and inhospitable conditions and extolled the role of the Army and the security forces for their valor and alertness. He also lauded the role of J&K Police in maintaining law and order in the region.
He also appreciated the role of the soldiers guarding the frontiers of the country Giving a brief overview of the achievements of the present Hill Council in Kargil, Kacho Ahmed Ali Khan said that at present developmental projects worth rupees 3 hundred crores are underway in various sectors in the district that include the construction of 200 bedded hospital and ANMT school at Kurbathang, etc and some of the projects has been completed.
Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan urged the people to uphold the virtues of the age old communal harmony and brotherhood for peace and prosperity of the State. He also emphasized the need of cooperation between the government and the masses in the implementation of the innumerable developmental schemes for their timely completion for early benefits of the people.
Colorful cultural programmes by the artists of Information Department, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and the school children were also presented on the occasion.
Later the CEC distributed prizes and mementos among the contingents and the cultural troupes who participated in the celebrations.
Republic Day was also celebrated at Drass, Sankoo, Chiktan, Zanskar and other block headquarters of the district.
Executive Councilor for Agriculture Haji Ghulam Amir hoisted the national flag at Chiktan and took salute at the March Past.
Later while interacting with the masses Haji Ghulam Amir told that The LAHDC Kargil is working for the overall development of all the Blocks of Kargil and gave an overview of the developmental works completed and those going on in Shakar Chiktan Block.
In Drass under -27 degree Celsius the National Flag was hoisted by SDM Drass Syed Jamal and in Sankoo Executive Councilor Syed Kazim Sabere hoisted the National Flag. Likewise in Zanskar the National Flag Hoisted by the SDM Zanskar, at All India Radio Kargil G D Sharma DDG (E) hoisted the National Flag and such functions were also seen at various other Government Establishment.
