Mohan Bagan to take on JK Football XI tomorrow

Jammu, September 10 (Scoop News)-The All India Football Federation has selected three football players of Jammu & Kashmir for advanced training to groom their talent optimally. Minister for Medical education and Youth Services & Sports, Mr R.S.Chib said this here today while announcing the high profile goodwill football tournament to be played tomorrow between Mohan Bagan, Kolkatta and J&K Football XI in GGM Science College at 3.30 pm during a press conference.
The tournament is being organized by the J&K Sports Council and J&K Football Association.Mr Chib said the selected players of JPL and KPL are also being trained in known institutes of Chenai and New Dehli as part of the government’s endeavour to promote talent and to open to vistas of opportunities for the budding players . Secretary Sports Daleep Thusoo, Deputy Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, Director YS&S, J.P.Singh, President, JK Football Association, Joint Director Information, Soujanaya Sharma and other senior officers were present on the occasion.“The government’s effort to organize such events will certainly bring about a big change in the sports profile of the state, which does not lack in talent”, he said adding that there is need to channelize their aptitude in a cohesive manner.
Briefing the media about the objective of holding such national level competitive games, the Minister said that it is a step forward to explore sports potential. The process will continue and efforts would be made to expose the young players to such an environment wherein they can benefit from the experienced and acclaimed players of the country.
He said the government is endeavouring to identify the hidden talent across the state, especially in remote and far off areas with an avowed objective of polishing their talent so that they can try their luck in various national level events.
“ It is the endeavor of the present government to hold such mega sports events in the state which is vital for encouraging and harnessing the budding sports talent besides giving required exposure to youth enabling them shine in the world of sports”, he added.Elaborating on the measures initiated during the past over three years in the field of sports, the Minister said various reformative steps have been taken to identify and exploit the sports talent besides providing them a conducive platform by holding national level games.
He informed that timely training is being imparted to the talented sportspersons in nationally reputed institutes to hone their skills in their respective fields. In this regard, he expressed gratitude to the Union Sports Ministry and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for taking deep interest in promoting this vital field. The Minister also referred to sanction of an indoor multi-purpose sports complex coming up at Jammu besides the proposed Football Synthetic Astrotruff in GGM Science College and Hockey Astrotruff at Baramulla for the current year.
