It was my first time watching LAI playing live in concert. I was there with a friend and all we could do is dance and sing along to the groups catchy sounds. I have never danced and singed the way I did that night, before. I was someone totally different.
A friend recommended I listen to LAI, awhile back, because she thought that there may be a similar sound between LAI and Jamiroquai, my all time fave group. I hesitated, like I always do when listening to new music, but in the end I lost all doubt and gained more music. LAI was, and still is a fresh, groovy clan.
If I were to describe LAI’s sound I would have to say that it’s, at times, almost like listening to disco on steroids. Other songs have a more Venezuelan sound to it, more local. Some songs can sound like plain ole pop music but better than what you listen to on the radio.
The band is composed of a bunch of guys –sparing a lot of details as you will notice– whose names I do not know but all I can say about these guys is GREAT JOB! If art could be used in the psychology field, music should also be integrated, especially this band. There has never been a time where I have felt so down and out while listening to LAI.
I have to admit that technology serves a purpose in this evolving and developing world. If it were not for downloadable content I would not be the proud owner of five of their studio albums listed below in chronological order:
A Typical and Autoctonal Venezuelan Dance Band
The New Sound of the Venezuelan Gozadera
Arepa 3000: A Venezuelan Journey into Space
The Venezuelan Zinga Son, Vol. 1
Super Pop Venezuela
Whether your relaxing, staying in on a beautiful Saturday, or getting ready to go out and enjoy a night out on the town, or working off those calories to be healthy, LAI is a must have for your mp3 player. I can only say that sometimes an expert critic is not needed when investing in good music. As I have stated before, if you are an open-minded individual you should take the "risk" and fall into the "Diablo" -a song by LAI on the 4th album listed above.
