To commemorate the 121st Birthday of Bharat Ratna, Dr. B.R Ambedkar, a seminar on the theme, “Social Justice and Dr. Ambedkar” was organised by Jammu & Kashmir Tribal United Forum (TUF) here on Thursday from 10.00 A.M. to 3.00 P.M. in the head office of Forum which was attended by various academicians, social scientists, legal luminaries, NGO’s and researchers. Chief of the Forum, Roshan Din Choudhary presided over the seminar and Tanwir Ahmed, an executive member has conducted the proceedings. In his inaugural address, Roshan Din Choudhary said that Bharat Ratna, Dr. B.R.Ambedkar, a great son of Indian soil, a multifaceted personality was a jurist, educator, journalist, revolutionary thinker, leader, social reformer and the architect of Indian Constitution. He said that such functions bear a significant impact on our society and make us aware about our duties and rights.
Among other distinguished speakers were Prof. Mohd. Azam, Prof. Amil Hussain from Poonch, Vijay Kumar Bhagat, a social activist from Amritsar, Dr. G.D.Singh, a researcher, Jameel Ahmed, Advocate Tanzir Khatana, Khursheed Ul Islam and Shah Mohd.
During this seminar, the speakers dealt in depth over the issues like rights of minorities and downtrodden, secularism and national integration in the prospective of Indian nation.
Earlier, Zabeer Ahmed Bajjar general secretary of forum in his welcome address said that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was Indian crusader for social justice and champion of Human Rights and the greatest tribute to him would be to disseminate his idea of equality vis-à-vis social justice from generation to generation. He further said that Dr. Ambedkar’s great contribution in respect of Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles of State Policy enshrined in the Indian Constitution provided us freedom, equality, abolition of untouchability and remedies to ensure the enforcement of rights.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Advocate Pervaiz Choudhary.
