Тhe case with the destroyed monument of "Mara Buneva" was refered to the Europe Parliamen

"It is dissapointing that this year was defiled the memory and heroism of the Bulgarian Macedonian Mara Buneva who fought against Serbian occupation of Vardar Macedonia," said Andrey Kovachev, chairman of the Bulgarian delegation in the Group of GERB / EPP in Strasbourg where held January plenary session of the European Parliament.

"Plaque placed at the celebration of the 85th anniversary of the death of Mara Buneva was violated in less than a day after it was installed," said the MEP. "I call on the authorities in the Republic of Macedonia to find and attract the perpetrators of this act of vandalism. This would be a positive sign, "said Andrey Kovachev.

"Repeatedly Bulgarian Cultural Club organizes various events, which invite representatives from both sides of the border. It is a pity that Skopje has not yet made the necessary steps in this direction, despite the importance of good neighborly relations for the start of membership talks, confirmed by the European Council, "he said. Bulgarian MEP was clear that this act of vandalism is prejudicial to the interests of the vast majority of citizens of the Republic of Macedonia is not an isolated case.

"Desecration of the memory of our common characters is not the signal that Europe officially expected from Skopje to be given the green light for accession talks," said Kovachev.

We recall that hours after placing the plaque of Mara Buneva on 13 January on the banks of the Vardar river in Skopje, it has once again been shattered. In Macedonia, since 2002 it has become an annual ritual. Usually it goes like this – representatives from Bulgaria go on site and ceremoniously put new tile in place, bullies come from Skopje supporters of football teams, there is  a melee with thrown of stones and cracked heads, and then the plate is also crushed to pieces. So it stands to next year when the scenario is repeated. This year part of the beating was shortened, but the plate was again spared.

Mara Buneva Nikolova is a Bulgarian revolutionary, member of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization. It is known as a freedom fighter and heroine in making Velimir Prelic assassination in 1928. The attack attracted European attention to the fate of the Bulgarians under Serbian and Greek rule.

And because the Buneva act is in favor of the struggle of the Bulgarians in Macedonia and can not serve the cause of Macedonism because Mara Buneva can be "twisted" that felt Macedonian, the Skopje Vandals treat her plate in the only known way for them destroy it, thinking that it can hide the historical truth.
