1 died, 4 kidnapped by militants

 

CHITRAL: On the call of Tahafuzi Haqooqi Chitral (Organization for protection rights of Chitral) trade union, and transporters observed completely shutter down and wheel jam strike in Chitral district.  Former MNA from Chitral Abdul Akbar who is also activist of Jamat Islami announced a day before for observing the strike and appeal to all segment of society to protest against suspension of work on Lawari Tunnel. Talking to this scribe he said that the federal government has transferred fund allocated for Lawari tunnel to other districts and works has been suspended on Lawari tunnel for the  last 2 years without any reason. All shops, backers, hotels, chemist and druggists,   greengrocers etc were remained closed in the whole district. As well as there was not traffic on the road and people were coming by feet from different villages to Chitral Bazar, offices etc. Besides it Utility stores were also remained closed illegally in the district.  Sources told that trade union of Drosh and other parts of the district also observed shutter down and wheel jam strike. Tahafazu Haqooqi Chitral protested against suspension of work on Lawari tunnel which is a matter of life and death for the people of Chitral. They warned that  if work was not assumed on the tunnel they will continue their strikes and will came on roads once again.  Tourists, strangers and passengers faced great hardships due to non availability of food etc. 

 

1 died 3 kidnapped by  militants attacks at Ursoon village Pak Afghan border. 

 

CHITRAL: Unknown militants (terrorists/extremists) attacked on Pita Soon security forces post at Ursoon village some 75 KM from here near Pak Afghan border area. As a result one cop of border security forces usually known as border  police Abdul Ghaffar was martyred and four constables were kidnapped on gun point by militants to Afghan (Nooristan Area). The militants attacked on a post of Chitral scouts at 1 O Clock and started indiscrimination firing with heavy weapons DCO Chitral Rahmatullah Wazir told this scribe. As a result Chitral scouts (paramilitary forces) also started counter firing and killed one extremist (attacker). Hence they flee away from the scene and started firing on police post as well as Chitral Border Security forces post. They also success to abduct four persons of Border Police namely Ghaziuddin, Sher Ahmad, Khan Shuaib and Muhammad Hassan hence Ghaziuddin success to flee away from the grip of terrorists and came back to his  post. During cross firing  police vacated their post and saved their lives. A local person Abdul Hameed son of Abdul Hamaad attacked on terrorists and snatched Klashankove  (rifle) from the militants hence he and his sister were badly injured by the firing of extremists. Security forces also claim that they killed one person from militants hence they take away dead body of their colleague. Hearing about the incidence Commandant Chitral Scouts, DCO and District Police Officer reached to Ursoon to inspect the spot.  They investigating the incidence from different angles. 

 

Diagnosing of Hepatitis campaign kicked in Chitral. 

To diagnose  and control Hepatitis (A, B, C, D, E) a campaigned was launched here in Chitral. Nihar Ahmad chairman of Peoples Empowerment and Relief Organization (PERO) told local journalist that his organization was established in 2009 and working on eradicating and control Hepatitis. He said that we have launched the campaign in Chitral district from Government Centennial Model High School  where Executive District Officer Education Siraj Muhammad  and former Director General Health KP Dr. Sardarul Mulk were chief guests as well as they have collected blood samples from  different students above 5 years both and private and government schools.  He said that we also collected blood from Medical Superintendent of DHQ Hospital Dr. Nazir Ahmad and other staff to diagnose Hepatitis. Hence 4 children of  class 7 and 9 were declared Hepatitis victims (positive) which was detected from their blood screening test. He said that main objective of the campaign to create awareness among the masses, to diagnose positive cases and to provide free treatment to hepatitis victims. He said that some 7 technical staff mostly comprising over Lady Health visitors are working in field who collect flood (sample) from students of different schools both male and female and analyzing in our laboratory and after detecting Hepatitis we again screening blood of patient to confirm hepatitis reactive. After that we keep secret his name to not discourage him and then we visit his house to collect blood samples from the whole family for diagnosing and provide free medicines. He said that our filed staff also deliver lecture during awareness raising campaign and guide the people to avoid using of towel, soap, comb, blood transfusion, using of affected disposable syringe etc. He appeal to all massive to must diagnose their blood for hepatitis screening and start their free treatment so as to control this disease from spreading if not eradicate. He said a positive hepatitis victim can affect other persons of his family if he not care of precasionary measurement. He said that screening of poor and deserving students are free of cost with a mission to control this disease from spreading and affecting other persons. The campaign will be extended to the whole district to detect Hepatitis cases and to provide them free treatment.
