1 Month Training for Dai from Kalash Community Held

 

Training for Dai at Kalash community certificate distribution ceremony.

 

CHITRAL: One month training was arranged for 8 female Dai from Kalash community. The training was conducted for working Dai from three valleys Bumborate, Berir and Rumboor regarding Basic hygiene, Domestic and Personal Hygiene, Nutrition, Anti Natal, (Before birth), Natal, post Natal care etc. These 8 trainee were belongs to Kalash community who will treat Kalash women during their delivery and pregnancy at Kalash valleys. It is worth to mention here that Kalash women and girls are shifting to Bashalini (Menses houses) during their menses period and pregnancy. Who also deliver babies inside of Bashalani (menses house) and no Kalash man can touch Kalash women during their menses as well as delivery. Only a female can help and treat them therefore Kalash women were trained especially Dai professional to dealt Kalash women during delivery.

 

Dai from Kalash community were also trained regarding importance of routine and TT Vaccination to pregnant ladies and CBA (Child Bearing Age ladies) and Expanding Program for Immunization (EPI) routine vaccination. They were also trained regarding importance and usage of iodized salt. Trained Dai were also given Dai Kits and First aid equipments. On completion of training a  certificate distribution ceremony was also held at Bumborat village of Kalash valley where District Coordination Officer Chitral (DCO) Mutasim Billah Shah was chief guest while Executive District Officer Health Dr. Sher Qayum was also present on the occasion. Training for Dai was organized by Kalash Valley Development Program (KVDP) Noor Shahideen representative of KVDP thanked EDO health and DCO Chitral. The speakers assured that more training of such type will be conducted to enhance the skill of health workers and Dai as per requirement. A large number of women and male participated the ceremony.

 

One Day training workshop for Area In-charges of NID

 

A one day training workshop was held for Area In-charges who will be involved in National Immunization Days (NID) for administering Anti Polio Drops to children upto the age of 5 years and below. Dr. Ansarullah was facilitator of the training which was held at District Health Development Center (DHDC) Danin as a part of their routine training. EDO Health Dr. Sher Qayum and EPI Coordinator Dr. Inayatullah also spoke on the occasion. They emphasized on the participants to perform their duty honestly so as declare Chitral a Polo Free District. EDO health said that main objective of these training to solve problems of health workers and to enhance their efficiency. He stressed upon the male worker to care of lady health workers during their duty in NID and to facilitate them. He strictly warned that no LWH would be allowed to engage her relative instead of herself.

 

The participants complained that Golain valley having the distance of 55 Kilometers and it is not possible for a single team to cover without vehicle. EDO health assured them for arranging a vehicle to administer polio drops to children in Golain valley. He said that appreciate certificates will be distributed among the best workers. He said that all criteria must be fulfilled to prove 100% result like chalking, finger marking and vaccination. As per schedule of EPI unit District Polio Eradication Committee meeting will be held at DCO office on 12th August, training for teams working in fields will be held on August 13 to 17. Drop out training will be held on 18th August to cover missing staff during the ongoing training. Walk regarding NID importance will be held on August 18 and 3 days door to door anti polio drive will be kick on August 19 which will be continue to August 21. Catch up days will be held on August 22, Sweeping day will be held on 23rd and Evaluation by Independent Monitoring on August 24 and 25. EDO health and EPI Coordinator appeal all heal teams and parents to assure 100% vaccination of Children so as to eradicate polio disease from the country.
