10, 859 beneficiaries covered under SW schemes in Batmaloo: Sakina

     Jammu, March 12 (Scoop News) – Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo today informed the House that during last two as many as 10859 destitute, widows and old age persons have been covered under various social welfare schemes in Batamaloo constituency.

                This was stated by the Minister while replying to a question by  Mohammad Irfan Shah in Legislative Assembly here. She said no sewing machines have been purchased in district Srinagar during last few years, adding that 33 wheel chairs have been provided to the beneficiaries under Prosthetic Aid Scheme in the constituency. She said that pre-metric scholarships to 719 students of the constituency were also provided during last two fiscal years. 

                Replying to another question by  Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, the Minister said that there are 49 Gujjar Pattis in 31 villages (Tribal Habitations) with a total population of 29574 souls in Bandipora constituency. She said under T&P and Article 275, an amount of Rs. 40 lakh have been spent for the welfare of the community during last financial year. He assured that all left over tribal habitations in the constituency would be incorporated for the benefits of tribal scheme.
