Srinagar,August 24 (Vijay Malla) – Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora on behalf of the Power Minister informed the Legislative House that 1000 micro Hydel electric projects are being executed by the Army authorities under BADP and operation Sadbhavana(Goodwill) at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
While replying in house to the supplementaries of various members on Monday, Jora said said that under the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan, hydro electric project Uri phase-II with the capacity of 240 MWs, Nimmo, Buzgo with a capacity of 45 MW, Chutak with the capacity of 44 MW, Bursar with the capacity of 1020 MW and Kishenganga with the capacity of 330 MW are the central sector power projects. He said Pakal Dul hydro electric project with the capacity of 1000 MW has been taken up as a joint venture between J&K State Power Development Corporation, NHPC and PTC at a cost of Rs 3480 crore.
Discussion on a question of A. R. Veeri regarding measures for exploiting the power potential in the State and details of various power products under execution in the State dominated the proceedings of the House during Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly on Monday in Srinagar as almost every member in the House tried to put-forth his view point about the functioning of this vital sector.
Minister said under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin VidutikaranYojna (RGGVY) all un-electrified villages and hamlets are proposed to be covered during the current year at an estimated cost of Rs 700 crore.
Earlier, replying to the main question the Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan stated in the Legislative Assembly said that under State hydel policy, 10 power projects have been awarded to various IPPS through two stage transparent competitive feeding process. These power projects included power project Athwatto, Baramulla over Madumati nallah with a capacity of 10 MW, Tangmarg project in Baramulla over Ferozpur nallah, Aharbal project in district Pulwama with a capacity of 22.5 MW over Vishow nallah, Hirpora project in district Pulwama with a capacity of 12.00 MW over Rambhir nallah, Brenwar project in district Budgam with a capacity of 7.5 MW over Doodganga nallah, Kahmit project in district Kupwara with a capacity of 4MW over Kahmit nallah, Bonfyar project in district Baramulla with a capacity of 12MW in Hapathkhai nallah, Mandi project in district Poonch with a capacity of 12.5 MW in Mandi nallah, Ranjala Dunadi project in district Doda with a capacity of 15 MW in Lower Kalnai nallah and Drung project in district Kathua with a capacity of 5 MW in Ujh nallah
He said that projects in operation with JKSPDC include Marpachoo on Indus, Haftal, Sumoor, Hunder, Bazgo and Bhaderwah on Chenab. He said that two projects included Matchil and Sanjak are under construction at an estimated cost of Rs 16.44 crore. The Minister said that total power potential of J&K is estimated at 20,000 MW, out of which 16480 MW has been identified and the hydel potential harnessed so far in the State is 2318 MWs.
The Minister said that construction of new 6.3 MVA, 33/II KV, receiving station, Akura along with allied 33 KV line was taken up under APDRP scheme. He said receiving station of Akura is expected to be completed and commissioned during current fiscal year, subject to availability of funds and key materials at a cost of Rs 91.60 lakh adding that every step is being taken to improve the HT/LT network in Kashmir Valley.
