Jammu, March 23 (Scoop News) – The Minister for Rural Development and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar today informed the House that due to recent unrest in the valley 104 persons were killed, 962 persons injured, 4270 persons arrested, 4047 persons released, besides detaining 152 persons under PSA. He said 38 persons were released from June 2010 to February 25, 2011 after evoking PSA on them.
The Minister was replying to a question of Ch Zulfikar Ali in the Legislative Assembly here said that State Government has sanctioned a relief package as one time exception, in favour of the NoKs of such of the civilians who lost their lives since June 11, 2010 as a result of violence, attributed to the breach in law and order and are not found directly or indirectly involved in actual violence or instigation thereof.
The Minister said that under the relief package, ex-gratia of Rs one lakh and appointment of eligible family member of deceased civilians in Government service against a lowest non-gazetted post or payment of cash compensation of Rs 5 lakh including Rs one lakh for ex-gratia relief in lieu of Government job have been sanctioned by the Government.
He said that Centre has also sanctioned grant of ex-gratia relief to the families of deceased persons @ Rs 5 lakh per person killed in civil disturbances since June 11, 2010.
He said ex-gratia relief to the tune of Rs 5.10 crore has been sanctioned in favour of the NoKs of 102 persons @ Rs 5 lakh in each case to the NoKs of deceased persons of the valley.
The Minister also gave district-wise detailed information about the compensation paid to next of kins of deceased persons of the valley.
