173 Taliban militants have been killed within 24 hours in Swat

Rawalpindi, Pakistan: The Director General of Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Athar Abbas in a press briefing said some 173 Taliban insurgents have been killed within 24 hrs of the operation in Swat and Buner.

 

The army has started the operation to eliminate the terrorists from Swat, Buner and other areas and it has been very successful so far.

 

The militants were attacking the government and military installations and military convoys and they challenged the writ of the government.

 

On the other hand, the war planes targeted the suspected militant hideouts and training camps in Kabal area of Swat today.

 

Thousands are feeling from the troubled areas of Swat, Buner and some parts of lower Dir towards the refugee camps.

 

Moreover, some unknown militants blew up a girls’ school in Kanju area with explosives in Swat.

 

However, the U.S. Congress Committee has approved some $ 1.9 billion in additional assistance to Pakistan, the Pak ambassador to United States, Hussain Haqqani told the media persons.

 

Pakistan will not compromise on the sovereignty of the country, we have told the U.S., he further added.

 

Eventually, the approval of $ 1.9 billion from Washington to Islamabad as additional assistance proved that U.S wants better relations with Pakistan, he said.
