The match nearly won by England, gone fritter away for zilch because of rain. This was going to be a remarkable win for the England Cricket team to trace a conquest against an Indian team jam-packed with stars.

                                                        The English were playing without Flintoff, Hoggard and the tall seamer Harmison, although there was not even a single jiffy that felt the absence of any of these players during the match. The England captain Michael Vaughn was very disappointed of not extracting a win out of a golden chance when they almost reached the center point.

                                           "It is really intimidating for the players, when you fall short to win a match at the end moment because of rain", said Vaughn. Umpires Simon Toeffel and Steve Buckner announced at the fall of Ninth wicket for India that match cannot be continued because of bad light. England had abridged India to 282 for nine wickets before the players left the ground beneath darkening skies for an early tea. India still wanted 98 runs to win, but poor weather prohibited play from resuming and the first match of the three-test series was confirmed a draw

                                                  "It is a juvenile seam attack," Dravid said. "Maybe the nerves got the better of them."
