A $2 billion or approx Rs 8000 crore solar photovoltic panel unit is going to come up in West Bengal. This project is a joint venture between Astonfield & a Japanese company.
Astonfield is the US based infrastructure & management group company. This copany is promoted by business tycoon NRI Sourabh Sen.
Astonfield group will form the joint venture with the Japanese company through its power company Astonfield Renewable Resources Ltd.
This joint venture would likely be a 50:50 joint venture. Though the name of the Japanese company is not known but this Japanese company is a world leader in solar photovoltic panels.
This Joint Venture is likely to bring down the prices of solar panels. If the prices of solar panels come crashing down then it will be affordable to many peoples of India.
Once a large masses of people starts using solar panels for generating electricity for their houses, electricity problems & load shedding will be burried in history. Global warming can also be tackled by using solar panels in large numbers and generating solar power.
