Jammu, February 26 (Scoop News) – Police and Security Forces achieved a major success by eliminating two militants of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit in a fierce gun battle in mountainous districtof Kishtwar today.
Police said that the slain terrorists have been identified as Shanawaz @ Bilal Ahmed son of Gh Mohd Khanday of Suzna Palmar and Mohd Rafi son of Abdul Rashid Mochi of Marwari Sarthal.
According to Police that the on the basis of specific information regarding presence of two LeT militants in a hideout inside a natural cave on the banks of river Chenab in Bonjwar area of Kishtwar, a joint column of Police, 17 RR and 74 Bn CRPF was launched in the wee hours of today. The hideout was cordoned off and militants were asked to surrender, but instead they opened fire on the Operational Party. The fire was retaliated and in the ensuing encounter both the militants were killed.
One AK 47 with two Magazines and 56 AK rounds, one Chinese Pistol and I/Cards of SPO Mohd Hanief, Shanawaz & Mohd Rafi were recovered from the possession of slain militants.
Police said both the militants were involved in killing of a SPO Mohd Hanief son of Saif Din of Drubri, Tehsil Thathri District Doda, who was posted in DPL Doda while he was on operational duty at Palmar on 08-01-2012 regarding which Case FIR No. 342/2011, U/S 302/382 RPC stands registered at P/S Kishtwar. Their other two accomplices in the murder case of Hanief namely Nafees Munwar son of Mohd Munwar of Suzana Palmar and Basharat Ali son of Mohd Farooq Bakerwal of Hira Nagar District Kathua have already been arrested and are in jail.
Shanawaz @ Bilal Ahmed was a recycled terrorist, who was earlier active between 2002 to 2006. In the year 2006, he was arrested in District Shopian. In the year 2005, he was involved in the killing of two SOG personnel in an encounter in Dool area of District Kishtwar for which a
Case FIR No. 99/05 U/S 302, 7/27 IA Act stands registered in P/S Kishtwar and a warrant U/S 512 CrPC was issued against him. However, their was a typographical error on the arrest warrant which was issued against him U/S 512 CrPC which was in the process of rectification for execution. After his release from jail in the year 2011, Bilal came to learn about the initiation of the process of rectification of his warrant and apprehending his inevitable arrest decided to become active again.
Inspector General of Police Jammu, Zone Jammu , Dilbag Singh-IPS has appreciated the work of searching team and said that they would continue such type of operations in future to frustrate the evil designs of anti national elements.
