2 MW hydro power house under progress by SRSP.

CHITRAL: Elites of area and representatives of different political and religious parties visited under construction 2 megawatt hydro power house at Golain valley. This hydro power house is being constructing by Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP) to overcome energy crises in Chitral town.
Briefing elites and representatives of different civil societies District Program Manager Tariq Ahmad said that this power house will bring positive changes in lives of Chitral town area. He said that at first some 230 million fund have been approved for this purpose which can be increased gradually. After completion of this power house it will benefit some 25000 households at Chitral town.
For this purpose we carrying 1718 meters long water channel and 65% work has been completed on this power house. Maqsood Ali khan said that he and other people of the area donated some 500 Acres of free land for this purpose hence some poor people need to be compensated by the government by giving them job opportunities or financial support.
Sharif Hussain and other said that its design was changed so many times causing for delay in work but Tariq Ahmad assured them that there would be no delay in future in construction of this power house.
Professor Shamsunazar Fatimi said that this was a long awaited demand of people of town area who were badly suffering from lack of power supply. After completion of this power house it will bring a revolution in socio economics status of residents of Chitral town. It was also revealed that construction of another 18 megawatt hydro power house is also under process in this valley because there are plentiful water resources which can be utilized easily for this purpose. Elites and representative of different parties, civil societies appreciated this positive step by SRSP for constructing 2 MW hydro power house which will definitely resolve problem of unscheduled load shedding in town area.
It is worth to mention here that residents of Chitral town area facing 48 hours longest load shedding in winter season when power supply interrupt by heavy snowfall at Lawari top.
