20-20 Matches Concluded

 Young Star clinched Premier League 20-20 tournament by defeating Pak 11 team.

 

CHITRAL:   In the final match of Chitral Premier League 20-20 tournament 2009 Young Star Cricket Team defeated  Pak Eleven (Pak 11) cricket team with 5 wickets.  President District Cricket Association Bashir Ahmad was chief guest on the occasion. Both teams were given target of 160 runs but young star scored 161 runs. Winning the toss Pak-11 started first batting.  Some 20 selected teams participated in the 20-20 tournament which was declared the most mega and big event of the year in Chitral. Mahmood Ahmad of Ochusht team was declared man of the tournament, Irshad Ahmad of Young star Man of the match, Amjad Farid of Golden Star team man of the series and best performance of the tournament was played by Amjad Farid while the youngest player Muhammad Hanif was also awarded in the final match. Chief organizer and best umpire Dawod Iqbal said in his welcome address that this is the big event of the district but it is playing in the ground of Degree College because there is no public play ground. He thanked Commandant and staff of Chitral Scouts for their fully support during the tournament and it was not possible without their cooperation he acknowledge. He announced that winner team of this tournament would be declared champion for one year. He also thanked Muhammad Ajmal Manager of United Bank Limited for sponsoring the tournament. He hailed Ochust team and termed him best team but they lost with one over. He also thanked Principal and management of Degree College who spared their ground for this tournament.

He said that main objectives of this tournament and matches to restrained young generation from drug addicting and social evils. He said that hospitals of those nations always full whose play grounds are vacant.

 

Addressing to the ceremony Chief guest Bashir Ahmad president district Cricket Association Chitral condemned behaviors and negative approach  of district Nazim Chitral Haji Maghfirat Shah and former MNA Abul Akbar Chitrali who created hurdles and problems in the way of purchasing of land for a stadium. He said that the then president Parvez Mushraf had released 17 million and the selection committee chosen a suitable place but district Nazim and then MNA always opposed of the planning as a result the fund was spent in head of purchasing transformers and electricity poles as a result the ill-fated youth of Chitral deprived once again from stadium. He announced that election of cricket association would be held properly in August for electing suitable members for its cabinet to activate the association for boosting cricket and supporting players. He demanded for restoring cricket quota for Chitral which was transferred to Dir district. He demanded from Provincial as well as Federal government for establishment of a stadium and public play ground for youth of Chitral so as to save them from drug addicting. He announced rupees 3000 for winner team, 2000 for runner up team and 5000 for organizing committee. At last he distributed winner trophy , runner up cup and cup to best players.  A large number of spectators were present in the ground.
