Jammu,September 08 (Scoop News) – To commemorate World Literacy Day, a massive rally of 2000 students from different government schools was flagged off today by MLA, Jammu East, Aok Khajuria and Director School Education, Jammu, s. Zahida Khan.
The Personnel Officer, Directorate of School Education, Ms. Nirupama Rai and Chief Education Officer, Natha Ram Dingra were also present on the occasion.
The rally, which started from Chief Education Officer’s office and culminated at SRML, HSS, was held to tell about the significance of education in today’s competitive world besides creating massive awareness among the people about the schemes launched by the government to eradicate illiteracy, which is the main cause behind most of the social crimes.
The students with ballons, banners, flags and placards in their hands were outing slogans on ways of eradicating illiteracy from the society.

The children, holding banners and placards with slogans on literacy, passed through various roads and markets of Kitwar town.
Bhagat urged upon the children and the teachers to help in enhancing literacy rate.
On the occasion, Chief Education Officer, Kitwar, said that there is a great need of organizing such programmes.
