21 States participating in 59th National School Games

Srinagar, September 30 (Scoop News)-The Department of Youth Services & Sports is organizing the 59th National School Games in Cricket under 14 years of age for Boys at Srinagar from October 01to October 06, 2013 under the aegis of School Games Federation of India. This was disclosed by Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, TajMohiud Din at a press conference today.

21 State Units have confirmed their participation in the said Championship.

The Minister said the opening Ceremony shall take place at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar on October, 01 at 11.30 AM. The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, he said, has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest. The Closing Ceremony, he said, shall be held at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Church Lane Sonwar, Srinagar on October 06, 2013 at 3.00 PM.

The matches will be played on League-cum- Knockout basis at the grounds of University of Kashmir, N.I.T, Islamia College, Srinagar, Government Hr. Sec. School Bijbehara and Government Degree College Baramulla grounds.

Approximately, 41 matches will be played in the championship including semi-finals and final.
To monitor the functioning of all the sub- committees noted above and other allied activities during the said championship, one Control Room has been established in the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, Wazir- Bagh, Srinagar which has already been functioning from 28th of September, 2013.
