3 Days door to door anti polio drive kick at Chitral.
CHITRAL: 3 days door to door anti polio campaign launched here at Chitral. District Nazim Chitral Haji Maghfirat Shah, Executive District Officer (EDO) Health Dr. Shaer Qayum and Major retired G.D. Lingland (British) Principal of G.D. Lindlad School and College administered polio drops and Vitamin A Capsules to children of G.D. Lindland School and kick 3 days door to door anti polio campaign. In this connection a simple function was also held at the same school and college Dr. Inayatullah Coordinator Expanded Program for Immunization (EPI) and Dr. Sher Qayum EDO Health briefed about the ongoing campaign. They said that polio campaign will be fully entertained in the entire district to assure that no child would be left without polio vaccine. They said those health teams have been given the target of 75682 populations. 231 mobile teams have been detailed for this purpose and polio drop will also be administered at 29 fixed centers and 3 transit points at Ashriat (Dir Chitral border), Arandu (Pak Afghan border), Air port and Bus Adda and children coming or going out of the district would also be administered polio drops.
Polio drops will also be administered at Shundoor as transit (the valley between Chitral and Gilgit). As 3 Campaign Support persons, 7 District Health Teams 49 Area In-charges and 3 independent monitors will evaluate, monitor and support the campaign to assured that no child was left without polio drops and vitamin A Capsules. All arrangement like distribution of vaccines, banners, posters and vitamin A capsules have been distributed to all areas. They appeal to parents to inform them at toll free number 0800 12012 in case of arrival of no health team to detail an other health team and assure it that every child under the age of 5 years was administered polio drops with Vitamin A capsules and declare Chitral as a Polio Free District. Polio will be continue from May 6 to 8 and catch up days on 9 and 10 May.
Couple Suicides by Poverty at Yarkhun
CHITRAL: Couple suicides by poverty and jobless at Mahting village of Yarkhun valley hence local police denied suicide due to poverty. A local person Wali Khan of Yarkhun valley told this scribe that Islam Khan and his wife Nargis Bibi suicides due to extreme poverty and shot dead their selves by 12 Bore rifle. Hence local police denied suicide case and termed it murder by mistake. According to SHO police station Mastuj Islam Khan was coming to his house after hunting seasonal Ducks and handed over his gun and ducks to his wife Nargis Bibi but trigger of his 12 Bore gun was pulled wrongly and fire was open automatically. Bullet pasted in the chest of Nargis Bibi and she was died on the spot. Her husband Islam Khan could not bear and tolerated this sorrowful scene and suicides with the same rifle who also died on the spot. Muhammad Nayab brother of Nrgis Bibi informed local Police of Police Station Mastuj that his brother in law was coming from hunting and his wife was died with his gun as the rifle open fire wrongly and after that he also shot dead his self and suicides. Mastuj Police started further investigation in this regard.
