Srinagar, April 5, (Scoop News)-A total of 310 recruits from the jammu and Kashmir state were inducted into the Indian Army’s Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) Regiment at an impressive passing out parade today.
“Singing their regimental song ‘Balidanam Veer Lakshman’, the voices of the young soldiers echoed in the valley.
On Saturday, Recruit Course Serial number 96 culminated, on having completed 49 weeks of arduous training. Their Passing Out Parade, depicting transformation of a Recruit into a Young Soldier, was reviewed by Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh, General Officer Commanding, Chinar Corps and over 2500 parents, relatives of the young soldiers along with a number of civil/ military dignitaries attended the parade held at Bana Singh Parade Ground at the JAK LI Regimental Centre in Srinagar.
The daunting soldiers of the Regiment hailing from all regions and religions of the State of J&K, took oath in unison to serve the supreme cause of the Nation. Their Ceremonial ardor and salute to the tri-colour with the National Anthem playing inspired patriotic vigor in all present. The GOC congratulated the Young Soldiers for their Immaculate Parade and impressed upon selfless service towards the Nation. In the investiture ceremony, Recruit Vicky Singh who distinguished himself in all disciplines of his training was awarded the Sher-e-Kashmir, Sword of Honour and the Triveni Singh Medal, for being adjudged as the overall best recruit in the course. He was also conferred upon the Chewang Rinchen Medal for being the Best Recruit in Firing. Recruit Qadar Khan, who won the Bana Singh Medal for being Best in Drill, commanded the glittering parade.
At the end, proud parents and relatives pipped the soldiers making them ready to join their battalions and to tread the immortal path of glory, living up to the expectations and the best traditions of the Indian Army.
The day was also marked with Tree Plantation by the GOC, Chinar Corps along with Mrs Gurmeet Kaur, Regional President, AWWA, at the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre who joined their hands in the Arboriculture Drive organized by Somgarh Military Station. Under the drive approximately 3400 trees have been planted this year. Speaking on the occasion the General said “The effort underlines the commitment of the Indian Army soldiers towards their responsibilities as good citizens especially those of humanitarian and social nature”. Brigadier Pankaj Sinha, Commandant Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre, highlighted and praised the vital role played by the Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar and the Forest Department of J&K, which were instrumental in providing advice, assistance as well as contributed with saplings for this drive and made it a huge success.
