Reasi-Jammu,India, April 18 (Scoop News)- J&K Minister for Social Welfare, Ms Sakina Itoo has 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and Assembly elections is under active consideration of the Centre to empower the women in the country.She appealed people to be ready for forthcoming Panchayat and Local Body elections , adding women candidates would be given due share in such elections
She was addressing at a function, organized by Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Committee, Reasi in connection with celebration of birth anniversary of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar. Sakina Itoo said that Government is committed to work for upliftment and betterment of backward and weaker sections of the society, adding several State and Central sponsored welfare schemes have been launched to improve their socio economic status.
Highlighting the role of Dr. Ambedkar, Ms. Skina said that framing Indian Constitution was one of the major contributions of Ambedkar. She said Ambedkar has worked all along his life for upliftment of the weaker section of the society, particularly belonging to schedule cast community. She said the State has also taken several initiatives for improving the socio economic status of this particular section of society, adding a special quota in Government jobs has been kept reserved for them.

Ms. Sakina said that all round development has been ensured in the State during the 15 months of the Omar lead coalition Government. “People have given their vote and we have to work for them” she maintained.
Referring unemployment problems in the State, Ms Sakina said that Government has recently launched an employment package in the State aimed to generate employment avenues for educated, skilled and unskilled youth of the State. She appealed youth not to follow merely government jobs rather to establish their own income generating units.
Ms. Sakina said that Women Development Corporation (WDC) has been established aimed to provide help to the deprived and needy women. She appealed women to approach to WDC for getting financial assistance.

Former Minister and Chairman of the Committee, Jagjivan Lal and senior political leaders, intellectuals and prominent citizen of the areas were present on the occasion.
