Jammu,June 8 – Over 35,000 pilgrims and visitors thronged Sudhmahadev during three day festival to have a glimpse of Lord Shiva and seek his blessing besides enjoying scenic beauty of its surroundings areas which is celebrated on Jayestha Purnima annually from the time immemorial with religious fervour and gaiety.
The devotees take bath at Papnashni bowli, Buddi Sudh natural spring and thereafter reach Lord Shiva temple to seek his blessings.
The district administration had made adequate arrangements of drinking water and power supply, medicare, sanitation, accommodation, traffic regulation and parking besides put up stalls of different departments highlighting their achievements for the benefit of rural population in particular.
Dharamarth Trust and other Social organizations had organized free langers at Sudhmahadev during mela days which attracted a huge crowd during first two-days i.e. on Jayeshta Choudash and Purnima.
The Para-sailing event organized under the supervision of Director, Adventure Para Sailing, J&K Chapter, Dr.. Chandra, a large number of visitors even from other States of the country, participated in the Para sailing event held at Mantalai, with great enthusiasm and fun fare during mela days.
Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, organized sports activities and cultural programmes with the involvement of local folk song parties which too attracted the attention of huge crowd. Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (GOI) arranged film shows at Sudhmahadev for the entertainment of yatris.
This year, a number of dignitaries visited Sudhmahadev. Prominent among them include sitting Legislators, Harsh Dev Singh, Balwant Singh Mankotia, K.C. Bhagat, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal , DDC Udhampur, Ajay Khajuria and former Legislator, Faquir Nath, also paid obeisance at Lord Shiva temple.
