Arizona is located in the southwestern region of the United States. The summers are hot, hot, hot and the winters are a beautiful mild temperature. Late fall to early spring is the best time to visit because temperatures are 60 degrees at the lowest! The capital and largest city in Arizona is Phoenix a must see for first time visitors.
West Fork, Sedona
This trail is a gorgeous, creekside walk and is one of the most stunning trails in all of Arizona. The trail follows a soothing stream all the way to gigantic cliffs. The trail is about three miles long with many chances of getting your feet wet. It is important you wear shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty! West Fork ends at a pool of water crashing against more cliffs. It is a beautiful trail and a must-hike location!
Flat Iron
This trail is located about an hour away from Phoenix. The Superstitions Mountains and Lost Dutchman State Park are the must sees here. The hike starts at Siphon Draw Trailhead and starts with a slow climb. You will then reach the base of the mountain where there is a trail to follow, although it is well used, it can be hard to follow so watch where you’re hiking! This is a steeper climb so it’s important that you stay safe. After hiking for about three miles you will find that you’ve reached the top! There are primitive campgrounds here, be sure to pack in a tent and sleeping bag.
Brown’s Peak
This is a difficult trail to climb. The turn for the trail is about is approximately an hour east of Phoenix. The last twenty minutes change to dirt roads, so driving a car on this part is not recommended. At the beginning of the trail is filled with the scent of pine trees that you follow up a small incline. After an hour of walking you’ll reach the part where you need to climb, so be cautious! Visiting Brown’s Peak in the fall is advised because the trails aren’t too hot and there is no snow in your way.
Mount Kimball
This trail is a fan favorite. It is called the Finger Rock Trail and leads to the beautiful Mount Kimball. The hike begins on desert hills and continues until you reach the very top. Shockingly, the trail increases 4,200 feet in the last five miles of the trail by the top. This is the kind of trail that doesn’t let up! It’s a rewarding hike once you reach the top. There are spectacular views and you’re able to see the surrounding mountains. If you want a challenge this is the trail for you!
