Qaqlasht festival continue, USAID country head in Pakistan Mrs. Rabin Rephel was chief guest on Quarter final Polo match.
CHITRAL: Chitral is very peaceful and paradises like place , peace loving and having rich cultural and eco tourism potential. These views were express by Mrs Robin Raphel country Director at Pakistan of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and former US Ambassador who was chief guest on quarter final polo match of Qaqlasht festival. She determined that concrete steps would be taken for promoting of Eco tourism in Chitral. She highly hailed hospitality and peace loving of Chitral people. Earlier that she was briefed by Shamsuddin Manager Chitral Association for Mountain Areas Tourism (CAMAT) about the role of CAMAT in promoting of tourism and especially Eco Tourism in the Hindukush region. Robin Raphel was chief guest on the occasion of Quarter Final polo match during 4 days Qaqlasht festival. She through the ball and opened the match between Reshun B versus Booni B polo team. Qaqlasht is situated some 80 Kilometers from Chitral town on a plateau where annual festival of Qaqlasht is celebrating every from April 14 to 17. Main objective of the festival to protect and promote of the local culture of mountainous people of Hindukush as well as to provide entertainment to local communities. During the festival there are so many sports events like free style polo, football, Volley ball, Cricket, Hockhy, Mirathan races, Tug of War, shooting competition, cultural show and victory dances as well as reformat poetry. The festival has been sponsored by tourism Corporation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which was arranged by CAMAT and Qaqlasht committee.
On first day of the festival 12 cricket teams, 6 football teams, 4 volley ball teams, 2 polo teams, 2 Tug of war teams participated. While on the second day of the festival 8 football teams participated. Charun football team defeated Torkoh football team, Booni defeated Kushum team, Lone beated Reshun team and Booni team defeated Degree College team.
Similarly in cricket Ziaullah Cricket team defeated committee cricket team, Kosht team defeated Torkhoh team, Reshun defeated Mulkoh team, Torkoh defeated Biyar team and Torkoh B defeated Lords cricket team while in Polo match Booni B team was declared winner team against Reshun B team and Booni A team defeated Reshun A team.
In volley ball Torkoh team defeated Pamir College team, Charun team defeated Biyar team and Degree College defeated Barinus team.
Besides it so many other colorful events are continue among the snow bound mountains and on a vast green carpeted ground final events would be held on April 17 if the weather remain pleasure. A large number of local, domestic as well as some foreign tourists are enjoying colorful events during the festival in a very peaceful environment.
