4 Tips for Handing Out Business Cards for Maximum Impact

Many business owners encounter a number of challenges that they are not quite prepared for. They often start a business after discovering that they are talented at providing a service for their employer. However, they quickly discovered that marketing and financial responsibilities take up a lot of their time.

When you are trying to market your business, there are a lot of things that you need to get right. One thing that you are going to need to get used to is handing out business cards. You need to know how to give business cards to customers in a way that makes the best possible impression.

Here are some tips that you were going to need to follow.

Give your card to a prospect after generating some interest

You don’t want to be too pushy when pitching yourself to potential customers. You also don’t want to waste money handing out business cards to people that are likely never going to contact you back.

It is best to make sure that you have garnered some interest first. A lot of business networking groups encourage people to give their business cards out right away. Some groups even ask people to put them in a bag and pass them around a table so people they didn’t even talk to can pull one out.

The problem is that you need to warm up your leads a little bit before you can expect them to reach out to you. It is best to engage him in conversation for a minute or two to gauge their interest before offering a business card.

Make sure that your business cards are properly designed at first

When I first started attending networking events, I handed out business cards that I designed on my own. I have to admit that my business cards were not very well-designed. They were not well received by most potential customers.

I had much better success handing out business cards when I made sure they were designed properly. The moral of the story is that you should get a professional to design them for you.

Always ask for a business card in return

Small acts of reciprocity can make a bold statement. They will help you forge stronger connections with potential leads.

One way to do this is by asking for business cards from people that you are talking to, rather than just giving them your card yourself. Of course, the most obvious benefit of this is that you can be proactive and call the person yourself. However, it also lets the other person know that you are genuinely interested in working with them. They will be more likely to reach out to you if you have demonstrated this.

Use an assertive pitch while giving your business card out

You need to find a middle ground between being too pushy and being too passive when you are promoting your business. Many business owners get too timid with marketing, especially when giving out their business cards.

You will get a lot more callbacks if you have a strong pitch when you hand them out. You don’t want to give out your business card and say something like:

“You can feel free to call me if you ever need my service.”

A more assertive and affective pitch would sound something like this:

“I would really like to help you with that. Give me a call as soon as you I ready. I can get you a quote within 24 hours.”

This will go over much better with your customers.
