“Militants in Swat district of Pakistan have released 48 hostages, all of the hostages were government security forces men, Mr. Siraj ud Din spokesman of militants had released the hostages after Friday prayers in presence of journalists, he has claimed that these 48 hostages were captured from a bunker in Gerari area of Swat, all other security forces men were killed by men of Fazlullah force during exchange of fire, hostages were kept in a building in Charbagh area of Swat, relatives of released hostages were also present at this occasion, three American journalists taken as hostages by militants in Swat are not released yet” sources have said.
Governor NWFP Mr. Ali Muhammad Jan Orakzai while talking to journalists in Governor House Peshawar has said that in Swat district of NWFP number of incidents of violence is at increase, it is my effort to resolve the conflict through negotiations in Swat through traditional Council Of Elders, but in case of negotiation efforts are failed as last resort I may use Pakistan Armed forces to restore peace in Swat, currently paramilitary forces are deployed to control the situation. He has further added that check posts in Minguara area of Swat and its surrounding area are created to stop militants from capturing more areas. while replying to a question about hostages, the Governor has said that he has no information about hostages, but there is some information regarding existence of certain foreigners in that area and government is trying to reach negotiated settlement with the militants in Swat. He has said that government is trying to impose Shariat ordinance in Swat to fulfill the demand of residents of Swat.
