There are numerous Swiss international schools to choose from that employ a diverse range of teaching methodologies. It’s impossible to address them all in a short article, but here are five that are definitely worthy of attention. According to the Chairman of Bellevue Education Marwan Naja, “The world of tomorrow will be increasingly multicultural.”
John F. Kennedy International School
This school in Saanen, Gstaad, bases its academic regimens on the British national curriculum. Catering to primary and secondary students, it provides instruction in English, French and German with a focus on maintaining small class sizes.
The John F. Kennedy International School offers limited boarding as well as day facilities. As part of a small student body comprised of around 60 individuals from more than twenty nations, attendees receive individualized attention and support.
Tandem International Multilingual School
Here, children from six months to 12 years old enjoy opportunities to learn in English, German and French. The Tandem International Multilingual School maintains three facilities around Lake Zurich’s northern shore. In addition to its regular day-school programs, it facilitates holiday camps and after-school clubs that focus on dance, music, language, study and other activities.
Tandem IMS was founded in 2004. It has since grown from serving six children at a single location to fulfilling the educational needs of over 200 students from more than 25 countries. Like many comparable institutions, enrollment is competitive.
The American School in Switzerland
The American School in Switzerland serves 735 students from pre-kindergarten to postgraduate levels. The school’s students hail from at least 60 countries, and its 25 historic and modern buildings provide boarding to around 265 learners between the ages of 12 and 19.
TASIS has a history spanning about 60 years. With a faculty of 141, average class sizes are kept to a relatively low 13, and there’s one teacher for every six or so learners.
International School of Schaffhausen
The International School of Schaffhausen educates around 270 students from 47 countries. Those below the age of three get a head start with a bilingual childcare service, and those from 16 to 18 may enroll in a residential program.
ISSH provides a family-like environment from a one-time luxury hostel dominated by modern upgrades. The school also maintains multiple acclaimed extracurricular programs.
