5 killed, 10 injured as Tavera rolls into deep gorge

  Jammu, October 17 (Scoop News) –In a tragic road mishap five   passengers were killed while ten others suffered injuries some of them critically, when a Tavera collided with a Tempo Maxi Cab   bearing registration No. JK02AS-7850 and  skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge at Kela Morh   under the  jurisdiction of  Police Station Ramban  of district Ramban  early this morning.

 

Police said that the the ill fated vehicle bearing registration No. 5238/JK01Q was on its way from   Srinagar to Jammu  when the mishap occurred. On receipt of the information Police rushed to the spot and launched rescue operation. The occupants of the vehicle have bee retrieved and rushed to nearby hospital where four   passengers have been declared as brought dead , while five persons   critically wounded persons have been airlifted to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment  out of them one lady   namely Sonya Maity d/o Topas Maity r/o Madina Pur West Bangal  succumbed to her   injuries  in the way   taking the death toll to five   persons.  

 

 The bodies of two female and one male are kept in mortuary room of Ramban hospital for identification and further legal formalities.

 

The  injured have been identified as   Deep Acharya s/o Asma Acharya  r/o Yadavpur Kolkata , SHanker Halder s/o Dulal Halder r/o Souking South Pangna ,Tulsi  Dass Shah s/o Jatinder Shah r/o Yadavpur Kolkata,Asam Achraya s/o Puran Gopal  r/o Yadavpur Kolkata, Prantha Rajan Sarkar    s/o Late Pulin Behari , Kalpana Choudhary w/o Anjan Choudhary , Barna Sen s/o Raja Sen , Topas Maity s/o Gopal Chander Maity , Ratna Maity w/o Topas Maity and two female who are unidentified . Five  persons are admitted in DH Ramban and five in GMC Jammu.

 

 

The Army once again exhibited its humane side by providing timely assistance to a road accident that occurred today     Troops of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion located at Metra led by Capt Sachin Rana came into action immediately with requisite items of aid.

 The injured persons were immediately rescued and were evacuated to the District Hospital, Ramban for administering first aid without any delay. 5 severely injured passengers were further evacuated by the IAF Helicoptor to Govt Medical College Jammu. 

      The action was greatly appreciated by the local population as well as civil administration. Such actions by men in uniform in the past have been the order of the day.  It is worth mentioning that the Army has not only kept up its promise of safeguarding the borders as well as interiors but has also stood up with a helping hand in fighting calamities and saving thousands of lives.  This timely effort by the army has once again highlighted the humane face of the men in uniform.
